This is bully the style it is. I wish people would review the recipe not add there ain sweet and sour version of it. Add together a new recipe with your sweet and sour version. I think it inappropriate to add in the comments. Thanks for your original recipe Mrs Wilson.

Made it without marinading...just threw everything together after browning the steak strips in the oil. I doubled all the other ingredients and completely forgot to add the tomatoes. (the principal reason I chose this recipe) Still Succulent! Oh, I did apply fresh ginger that I was trying to use upward instead of ground.

This recipe immediately went into my recipe box! Will definitely make it again. My dinner plans changed so the meat marinated for 24+ hours and was very succulent - I would recommend marinating at least a few hours or overnight. I only used blood-red & xanthous bell pepper and green onions because I had no fresh love apple. Added garlic and crushed blood-red pepper for actress kick.
03/18/2012
This was the best pepper steak recipe I've tried! I gave 4 stars though because I added garlic and didn't use tomatoes, but that'south just a personal preference for me.

Looking over the recipe I noticed I was to add together a lot more carbohydrate (sweet) than I knew I'd similar, then I reduced information technology significantly, probably by more than one-half. Besides, I sliced the meat considerably thinner than the 1/2" the recipe directed. (Freezing the meat briefly, twenty-30 minutes, makes this much easier. Equally for the grooming, I did that a piddling differently. I cooked the meat first, set information technology aside, and so cooked the onions and ruby-red, yellow and greenish peppers, combining it all at the end. I certainly didn't want to have a risk of overcooking the meat. Nosotros did enjoy this, but I call back it would do good by the addition of garlic and, in my opinion, by the omission of the tomatoes. What I peculiarly liked about this dish was its flexibility (add or use whatever meat and stir-fry appropriate vegetables you like), the fact that we mostly have the ingredients readily at mitt to prepare information technology, and that it's nutritionally sound.

This is a great base recipe. I had i 1/2# of beef so I doubles the sauce, and I was glad I did to accept plenty. I omitted tomatoes (didn't have any). Used fresh ginger.. the residuum is pretty could in this recipe but at the end it needed a tweak. I added garlic.. 2 cloves... 2 tbls. of oyster sauce.. yumm.. would definitely utilise recipe again with these modifications.. thanks

If my picky eater hubby loves this and swears by it, information technology'southward super tastey and super flavorlisious!!! (sp?? LOL) This will exist dinner again, very soon, and quite frequently. Easy to make, simple ingredients, and loved by every fleck!!

Corking recipe. My husband likes pepper steak with sweet 'northward sour sauce. I accept an piece of cake recipe or you tin can buy some pre-made at the store. 1 can-13 1/4oz pineapple chunks with syrup. one/three cup vinegar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar i Tblsp cornstarch 1 Tblsp soy sauce --------- Mix brownish sugar and cornstarch in skillet. Stir in pineapple with syrup, vinegar and soy sauce. Heat to humid stirring contantly. Reduce heat.

excellent!!!! my family unit loved it. did not used tomatoes

This is delicious! I had a few sirloin steaks and decided to try this. I trimmed off the fat and cut the pieces into thin 1" pieces, then they cooked in the 3 minutes or and so suggested. I finally found the method to getting stir-fry to crisp, and not steam, by cooking 1 lb in three batches even if more will fit in the pan! I didn't have a dark-green pepper, so I used an orangish one with the ruby-red. I probably cutting those a footling smaller than suggested too likewise as the onion. For the reddish onion, I but used a 1/2 of a large sweet yellow onion. I didn't accept fresh tomatoes, so I used 1 tin of diced tomatoes very well drained. This smelled and so good while it was cooking. Information technology doesn't brand a lot of sauce, but it isn't loaded with oil like take-out stir-fry either which I liked. I used low-sodium soy sauce and it didn't seem to be a problem. I served it over brownish rice, from the rice cooker. I would brand this again. Thanks

MrsWilson, Thank you and so much for posting this recipe! My mother had this same recipe which I could not find. The only thing I remembered was the recipe came from a box of cornstarch and had love apple wedges. Once again, thank you and then much for posting, my search is over and fourth dimension to melt.
12/02/2011
This was really proficient. I doubled the sauce for 1-one/2 pounds of steak. Added about 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. As well added 1 teaspoon of crushed ruby pepper virtually the stop f the cooking fourth dimension. Used red & yellow bell pepper instead of greenish. Did not apply tomatoes.
01/11/2015
Great and uncomplicated. If you like more sauce to go over your rice like I do, double all of the sauce ingredients EXCEPT the cornstarch. Turned out great.
05/22/2011
Surprised to actually run across this recipe here. This is the first pepper steak I ever fabricated and that was too many yrs. agone to think most, but it is still the best and always well received. Thanks for reminding me of it.
06/08/2013
WOW!!! This was really succulent. I used a bag of peppers and onions (helped out with prep) and information technology turned out wonderful. Dandy recipe MrsWilson
03/13/2012
EXCELLENTE! I was craving for Chinese food, but didn't desire to drive to boondocks. And I found this recipe. OMG! This is so wonderful! I marinated the beefiness overnight. The beefiness was to tender. I added sliced celery and Yellowish onions. I remembered to add tomatoes. I added the tomatoes terminal just before serving and afterward I turned off the stove and so as non to overcook the tomatoes. First, I cooked the meat in iii portions. Do non cook the whole batch of meat at in one case or it volition become soggy and watery. So I combined all the meat and veggies and cooked it for 5 minutes. I too added oyster sauce. PERFECTO!
xi/07/2013
With everything that is wrong with this dish by including tomatoes, it did work, and got my Okey dokey as being "Just OK".
ten/29/2009
Good. I call up it was better with chicken than beef. I made information technology all at once putting the craven in get-go, so veggies, and lastly the beef. I would add more ginger next time. Did not use tomatoes considering I forgot.
09/28/2014
Slam bam thanks mam! Easy to make family loves information technology!!! Added fresh garlic and mushrooms, with a footling more soy to taste!!!
x/02/2014
Keen flavour. Doubled Sauce mixture cooked . As directed..added water just before serving to thin out sauce. We like extra sauce to embrace rice and information technology didn't ruin the flavour.
10/01/2014
This is a great recipe! I prefer using fresh ginger (ii tsp) , and it really punches up the flavour. I also add a niggling beef broth to the marinade, every bit I melt brown rice in it to add season there. The tomatoes are a fantastic addition. Also, any type of onion works - I've used ruddy, white, yellowish or fifty-fifty scallions (my favorite). I've also made this adding celery and/or mushrooms. You merely tin can't become wrong hither.
08/17/2014
This was incredibly tasty an incredibly simple!
08/08/2011
wonderful recipe. The but reason for the 4 stars is that I added crushed garlic to the mixture while cooking and added approximately 1 cup water to increase the amount of sauce and give it better smooth texture I will be making information technology again. Thanks for sharing. Kamal
03/20/2012
The easiest and simplest and best tasting pepper steak everrrrrr!!!!!!
xi/06/2014
This is a keeper! An entree has to hit three bells to earn a spot on my Weeknight Dinner roster: i) Inexpensive, 2) Non labor intensive (which, to me, is very dissimilar than simply "fast". I don't care if what I'chiliad making takes an hour to Melt as long as information technology doesn't require an hr of prep in lodge TO cook!) and iii) Tasty! This dish hit ALL 3 ... particularly tasty 'button'. I gave upwards trying to cook annihilation Asian years ago! Seemed that no matter what the recipe called for, MINE would ever end upwards getting a resounding "it'due south ok" (west/costless shoulder shrug) or, worse, me sending someone somewhere to get us something to consume (and knowing I'd never be given the change back from the $20 pecker I would fork over).
04/08/2013
It was a smashing recipe and the steak came out amazing... I did make some adjustments though. I used pork instead of beef, skipped the tomatoes and added minced garlic. Also when cooking I added water to make a bit more than sauce. Nonetheless it came out fantastic, and hubby came up for seconds... and thirds. Information technology was my first fourth dimension trying to melt something asian, so I call up the recipe is slap-up if it came out this adept the first time around. Volition definitely be making this again! Thank you for sharing.
03/26/2014
Very good. I used the little yellowish, red and orange peppers in place of the bell pepper and used some tomatoes that I had diced for salad. I did non double the sauce, and wished that I had. The recipe does non say to add the sauce to the dish, merely I added information technology and served it over brown rice. I'll definitely exist making this again.
eleven/03/2010
This was amazing :) I did not accept all of the ingredients (by and large ginger) only I added just a dash of sesame oil and it was so adept. I cant expect to get to the store and get ginger and then I can try it this way likewise. Cheers so much for this wonderful and easy recipe!!
03/04/2015
This was great, I actually took suggestions from other reviews and used sesame seed oil to saute the beef. I didnt accept hosin sauce, so I used oyster sauce instead. Not sure how that affected the taste, but we enjoyed it an I'one thousand sure to try it again.
03/22/2012
I never made annihilation like this earlier. It came out great my everybody liked information technology and Nosotros are six adults and two children.
05/22/2013
Very succulent. I never realized the importance of cut meat across the grain.
09/04/2014
This was really, actually good! I made it as recipe states except I made ane 1/2 10'southward the marinade & added 1 tsp ruby-red wine vinegar as another reviewer suggested. I also added mushrooms & topped with sesame seeds. I thought the tomato in information technology was sounded weird but tried it and loved it as did my son who doesn't like tomato. This made 3 practiced just not huge adult portions, not 4. I have another pound of steak and will endeavour to marinade and freeze it for next time.
04/04/2012
I added a photo....I added red pepper flakes for some spice and a tiny chip of jalapeno juice. Put information technology over white rice and had information technology with some sliced cucumber. Will definitely make once more.
11/13/2014
This turned out great! Information technology was fast and like shooting fish in a barrel to put together. I didn't utilise ginger because I didn't have whatsoever, but I will go on some on had just for this recipe at present! I would as well skip the tomatoes next time, I just wasn't a fan. I also used a xanthous and a red pepper instead of light-green, and they were fine. The meat was tender and flavoful, served with rice was a delicious, piece of cake, quick repast!
xi/20/2010
I TRIED Information technology ONCE Information technology WAS Not JUST WHAT I EXPECTED. I WOULD Do AGAIN Only WILL CONTINUE LOOKING FOR OTHERS
02/06/2020
What you have here is actually a version of Peruvian lomo saltado. The addition of tomato plant, which never existed in China, is a expressionless giveaway. Lomo saltado is a Chinese/Japanese-inspired dish that was created past Asian immigrants to Peru, who used local ingredients as necessary, hence the addition of tomato. Notwithstanding, the love apple in lomo saltado is cooked down a lot more than in this recipe.
06/22/2015
Simply marinate the meat in 1/four cup of oyster sauce, and then y'all don't take to add sugar and cornstarch, all the stuff is already in oyster sauce and information technology has more flavor.
12/xvi/2014
Super like shooting fish in a barrel. I marinated for about 30 mins. Added garlic. I'll definitely be making it once more. Great recipe!
12/26/2014
If I could give 3-1/ii stars I would. For our gustation, the addition of garlic was a must. I fabricated with merely the ginger initially, but added the garlic later on tasting. Also used chocolate-brown saccharide, as it's always my carbohydrate of choice with soy. Doubled the sauce. Added mushrooms. It was skillful, just I still felt something missing, probably the oyster sauce. Will make sure Togo back to fresh garlic and ginger adjacent time. A recipe worth tweaking.
09/15/2014
It came out colorful and very tasty. Side by side fourth dimension I'll skip the tomato's. (Not my favorite.) The meat was unbelievably tender and very good. All in all a great recipe.
03/06/2015
I used flank steak and fresh ginger, non powdered. I added a footling fish sauce while sauteeing along with the soy sauce. Succulent! I will get in again.
06/06/2011
This recipe is easy enough, I just prefer my pepper steak to have a slightly sweeter sauce, so I added more carbohydrate, it wasn't quite what I was looking for, but it did come closer to the recipe I was utilize to, but can no longer observe.
11/07/2013
I doubled the sauce and used fresh mushrooms instead of tomatoes and information technology was delicious! I also added oyster sauce and extra ginger besides as black pepper (about a teaspoon) as recommended by others and served it over fresh steamed jasmine rice. Wow what a treat it was, meliorate and then I've ever had out
03/04/2010
Really expert. Can add some green onions or red pepper flakes, too.
02/07/2020
At present I have to say, I accept not made this recipe, but it is exactly the recipe ,my mom used when I was a kid. As one reviewer said, the recipe was on a box of cornstarch. I looked at the pictures, and only a handful looked like information technology is supposed to look. I will exist making this tonight as written. I can taste it already! And so sorry that people think they have to change a recipe before they try the original ones. What an insult to the person who submits the recipe.
02/xx/2012
Followed the recipe as is and cooked this for lunch with rice. It was okay but information technology lacked zip. I think I would add something like balsamic vinegar next fourth dimension. Thank you MrsWilson =)
09/26/2018
Didn't add the tomatoes and besides I seasoned my meat with some slight season salt, onion pulverisation, garlic powder, and black pepper. Came out yummy! Volition definitely make this once more.
11/04/2018
Not much of a cook myself, simply this turned out neat !!! Thank you !
02/01/2012
Succulent recipe even afterwards a small-scale alteration. I thought the sauce was as well thick so I went alee and added about 1/four cup of red cooking wine to thin information technology out just a bit and the end result was a dainty consistency. This is a savory dish and adds variety to my weekly dinner schedule. Past the style, this dish has pretty colors, thus making it look appetizing.
07/02/2016
Doubled the marinade - except for the carbohydrate and cornstarch - and added garlic and red pepper flakes. Had about 1 1/two lbs sirloin tips. Sliced ane onion, ane green pepper and one yellow pepper into strips. Used crimson tomatoes cut in half which I added at the very terminate. Followed the rest of recipe every bit written. Excellent!!! Volition make again.
01/29/2014
Family loved it. I needed to employ what I had on hand so I used flank steak instead of sirloin. Flour instead of cornstarch, olive oil instead of veggie, green and cerise peppers but no tomatoes. I also added some red pepper flakes to spice information technology up. I'm certain the recipe is groovy as it is and it is bang-up to utilise when you have to make substitutions. I will make it again. thanks
09/10/2019
Did it with out the ginger and tomato'southward all the same worked fine and added extra onion turned out bang-up and I used flour instead corn starch and it worked just proficient
01/17/2020
This recipe is delicious! I make mine a lot of times in the crock pot. The meat is then tender and tasteful! Let it cook on low for four hours, and so add together the bell pepper for some other hour. v total hours. ??
01/29/2020
everyone loves. i do non utilize tomato. Fyi, the meat is more tender if you marinate for a couple of hours simply you lot don't demand to. nosotros throw information technology over rice but i like to steam veggies and throw over that and get carbs elsewhere. no demand to modify the recipe bc information technology is great the way it is and that is EXACTLY what you lot want to hear when you read a review. my kids become most excited when i brand plenty for school lunches the following day, just notation when nosotros pack lunch bowl, we mix the meat and sauce in the rice so the rice stays soft for next day lunch. savor!!!
12/22/2017
I made this dish exactly as it was written the first time I made information technology, and information technology was 'pretty good'. For our gustation, this recipe needed to be slightly 'tweaked'. I fabricated information technology again last night, and I but used 3/four T carbohydrate, half of a light-green bell pepper & half of a red bell pepper. We didn't care for the tomatoes, so I substituted sliced Babe Bella mushrooms (since nosotros beloved 'shrooms). I served this over a bed of wild rice (cooked in low-sodium vegetable goop), & sugar snap peas for a side dish. It was very tasty, and definitely 'company worthy'.
03/30/2016
It was very yummy- even better with fresh ginger root, if y'all have it (I keep mine in the freezer for convenience, and running it over a microplane while nonetheless frozen). I did cease up calculation additional liquid as information technology seemed to exist lacking any real sauce. I like a niggling chip of sauce to soak into a bed of rice. Good with venison, besides!
02/21/2016
I made the recipe every bit directed. In hereafter, I would use a generous amount of minced or grated fresh ginger instead of the powdered ginger. In my opinion, the yellow onion would add a ameliorate flavor than red. 1 lycopersicon esculentum was plenty. The taste of the dish was very bland.
04/28/2013
Made exactly every bit written, was easy easy, kinda salty, simply overall a succulent recipe!!
03/20/2015
Big hit at our house. Saved the recipe and will definitely get in again!
09/27/2011
Delish!!! My 18 month old fifty-fifty loves information technology. The only change I made was substituting fresh mushrooms for the tomato plant.
04/09/2014
I have made this many times, the best pepper steak recipe I have ever made I marinated the steak a couple hours cooked the pepper and onions after the steak then added the cooked steak, took off heat and added tomatoes the cool tomatoes and the hot pepper steak were awesome.. served over white rice. Highly recommend
01/11/2014
I have fabricated this dish twice and its been well liked by all. Adjacent fourth dimension I volition use depression sodium soy sauces every bit the dish was very salty, and that was the only salty item used.
03/26/2015
Super tasty I added black pepper, garlic, and a little chili seed mix to spice it up
03/22/2018
I was and then hoping this would be great just not much flavor...I did not put but 1/2 teas sugar because nosotros do non need that much sugar then maybe that was it.
ten/18/2016
I was not happy with the directions. It tasted fine and I ended upwards making it the style I was raised by adding the marinating to the skillet after everything was cooked
03/01/2015
Restaurant quality!!!!!!!!Large striking
03/06/2015
Dear! I added garlic and mushrooms. This has such good flavour, I volition definitely make this again - oft.
05/06/2017
To much work for the little that you lot get. non that great either.
07/14/2014
4 stars because I did not follow exactly. Added 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce and glove of chopped garlic. However I did follow cooking directions exactly and I think this is why is came out and so well. Unless yous have a REALLY large fry pan, stir fry MUST be cooked in batches.
02/eleven/2010
Excellent recipe with great flavor.
02/08/2020
I made some mods, but my mods didn't change the mode information technology taste. Aminos for soy and powdered konjac root for cornstarch. Yeah, I volition get in once again. Next I will add toms right before serving to preserve the tomatos rich color. I doubled the recipe to freeze and serve at a subsequently engagement. Thanks for the recipe!
08/08/2014
Syes I accept done this recipe and I love it I didn't add the tomatoes only I did make white rice and I am doing information technology again today cheers my family loved it
09/29/2014
ot so corking.
ten/12/2019
I made this with circular steak as opposed to sirloin and substituted half of the oil with sesame oil. Added chopped dark-green onions at the end and this could rival the local accept-outs! Wonderful recipe.
12/28/2013
The man fabricated this recipe so it was extra delicious since I didn't lift a finger. We used unlike veggies that we had on hand. The marinade/sauce is delicious!
02/28/2014
Awesome recipe, the sauce is delicious. I used frozen onion and pepper mix because that was all I had. I didn't take whatsoever ginger, so I omitted information technology, but it was notwithstanding very expert. Added some garlic also. I think I will also try the sauce on this recipe using craven and broccoli instead of the steak and peppers. Pretty sure that will be a skillful combo likewise.
07/18/2016
The recipe seemed peachy until it called for Ii tablespoons of corn starch for only 1/4 of a cup of liquid. The terminate effect was and so inedible, even afterwards trying to doctor it up, that I threw away ten dollars worth of steak. IF I brand it again, next time I will use only 1 teaspoon of FLOUR.
09/04/2011
This was very tasty! I doubled the marenade and let the beef sit in it for about two hours. I cooked the beef/peppers/onions at the same time for about four minutes. Poured marenade in until information technology thickened. While I was cooking I added a half teaspoon chopped garlic and 1 cup beef broth for more gravy to the double batch of marenade. Family loved it...will brand once more :)
08/21/2019
Very tasty. Piece of cake and quick to make. The melt tin adapt the ratio of meat to veggies. With the addition of sugar and ginger, this isn't the blazon of pepper steak some people might wait. I cutting the white carbohydrate and cornstarch in half so it wasn't too sugariness. The cornstarch coats the meat nicely and on loftier heat, adds a bit of char (non too much though).
12/sixteen/2013
I tried this recipe terminal week and my family loved it. I wanted something different than just steak, starch, and vegetable. I thought virtually the pepper steak from the Chinese restaurants and wanted to brand my ain. Information technology turned out great. The recipe was like shooting fish in a barrel to follow and the ingredient mixture was great.
06/27/2013
Skillful just a petty also salty. I added a few garlic cloves and marinated the meat for near an hour prior to cooking I too doubled the marinade since I like more sauce for the rice. After everything was washed cooking, the sauce was also thick and then I added well-nigh one/2 loving cup h2o to the mixture for a smoother consistency. Family loved it.
12/26/2014
Yeah I made it . Against my better listen I put the tomatoes in . Information technology would have been much improve if I would have left them out. Ruined the authenticity of the dish. My Chinese friend said " nooo tomatoes in pepper steak ". I agree.
03/10/2016
Came out and so delicious. But I only cooked all of my beef at once, and added more h2o and soy sauce to make more than of a gravy. Tasted like take out. Volition definitely make once more.
11/05/2017
I made this exactly as written and it was corking! Definitely a keeper. Thanks for posting.
01/07/2015
This was good. I added ginger and garlic paste (two heaped tablespoons) to the sauce, and a scrap of water just before serving to make a fiddling sauce / moisture. Next time I would reduce the sugar a little, simply this is an easy, tasty, quick dish that stretches a small steak quite well. Thanks!
06/15/2014
Instead of white sugar I used brown carbohydrate and instead of a carmine onion I used a white one. I also marinated the meat for about 2 hours and added a minor spoon of ruby wine vinegar to the marinade to assist intermission down the meat some to ensure tenderness. I added season common salt, minced garlic, teriyaki sauce, and sesame oil to the marinade also. This was yummy. A definite keeper.
10/12/2014
The gang loved information technology! I left out the tomatoes because i did not have any.
08/29/2012
I've been thinking almost eating/making pepper steak for days but was waiting to pull the trigger because I wanted it to sense of taste merely like take out but couldn't find a recipe that I was set up to take a chance on. When I found this one I decided to give it a shot. So glad I did, it was Amazing! The simply matter I did different was double the sauce, tenderize the steak really well before I marinated it and added a lot of fresh ground blackness pepper. I permit it marinate for about 3 hours. I like onions to be cooked actually well, so unless you similar them on the crisper side I suggest you lot cook them a petty earlier adding the steak and the peppers in. Will be brand this again for sure!
10/28/2013
Great recipe. Cheers for posting.
10/30/2013
This was then good! I listened to some of the other reviewers and added garlic and oyster sauce. I've been looking for a fantabulous pepper steak and this ane is it! This is going in my recipe box! Thanks so much!
05/23/2015
I've never really found a pepper steak recipe I similar until at present. Doubled the sauce and added garlic. Delicious.
12/02/2016
i really liked the season not over spiced. i would however incorporate the cornstarch dissolved in some common cold water at the end of cooking. difficult to brown meat otherwise
09/17/2014
very tasty!
03/25/2015
Very good very easy.I did do one thing differently I use an organic vegetable goop depression sodium. And information technology was great
05/25/2016
I made this recipe as instructed. Ended up having to add together about 2 cups of water considering there was no sauce. I probably did something wrong to cause that trouble. However, the season was adept overall. That said, I don't think I will make this again. Just ONLY because am the only one in my household who enjoys Chinese cuisine.
04/14/2013
Perfect, great gustation. Added pea pods, fresh ginger and some teriyaki sauce on rice
12/01/2011
I just made this for supper with rice. It was okay simply it lacked zip. I ate it the way it was merely I recollect I would add something like balsamic vinegar next time. I did not use the tomatoes merely I did add together sliced portobello mushrooms.
11/15/2014
This is my quaternary fourth dimension cooking this recipe, and information technology is a hit! Today, I had some sun stale tomatoes which I have had in the refrigerator for quite some time. I threw theses in along with some fresh garlic at the end nd volition definitely do both henceforth! Bang-up recipe!
06/18/2014
I used a footling extra sauce and only half an onion and i tomato, and it came out skilful. I call back I would cut back a picayune on the sugar side by side time. My family liked this dish!
